Has anyone managed to get AOE2 DE running through the SteamPlay interface on Linux? I am running Ubuntu 20.04, and I have now tried it with all versions of proton>=4.11 and I keep getting "out of sync" errors within a minute when playing multiplayer (apologies to everyone whose afternoon I ruined, btw, in case you see this).

game constantly freezes (total) in MP. So about 70% of multiplayer games i play randomly freeze at a random time, i can still hear the sounds, and even clicks/hotkeys work but screen is completly stuck. I play on above recommended specs PC and i have windows10. This went from midly annoying to infuriating that almost every game i encounter this

Multiplayer usually involves pinging the official servers,and the servers can detect an original copy of the game from a cracked one. You should buy it if you want to play online,the game is awesome and is worth every penny.I bought it during the previous Humble Bundle along with 10 other games (including AOE 3 and all the legacy edition for AOE 2) for only $15.
